Bhopal, India (Urban Transport News): The Madhya Pradesh government issued new posting orders of various IAS officers of the state on 31 August 2021. Chhavi Bhardwaj, a 2008 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to expedite the work of proposed metro rail projects in the cities of Bhopal and Indore.
Prior to posting in MPMRCL, she was the Mission Director of National Health Mission, Government of India in Madhya Pradesh.
Chhavi started her professional journey in 2008 as an Assistant Collector. In 2013, he was appointed as District Magistrate-cum-Collector in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. Just a month after her posting, she comes into limelight as she filed an FIR against the Chief Municipal Officer of the area for paying a bribe of Rs 50,000. During his posting in Dindori, he made a lot of reforms in the field ranging from education to social development.
In April 2016, Chhavi was appointed as the Municipal Commissioner in Bhopal and she followed the Smart City Mission of the Government of India so well that in the Swachh Survekshan 2018, Bhopal was ranked second for the cleanest city in India.
In 2018, Chhavi was shifted to Jabalpur, where she became the first woman collector of the city. He is famous among other IAS officers as an anti-corruption officer.
He wrote a book on the life of IAS officers titled “Like a Bird on the Wire”. This book represents the challenges and political pressure that IAS officers face.
Now he has been given a huge responsibility of implementing metro rail projects in the cities of Bhopal and Indore, which are facing indefinite delays due to various issues ranging from land acquisition to fund crunch.
