Bengaluru, India (Urban Transport News): Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA) is planning to propose a 4-km eco-friendly Metro Neo network for two upcoming stations and last mile connectivity on Yellow Line of Bangalore Metro (RV Road and Bommasandra). The IT Park in Electronics City is divided into Phase 1 and Phase 2. Phase 1 consists mostly of retail centers dealing with electronics goods and services.
As per the plan, the Bommasandra-Bommanahalli corridor of Bangalore Metro on Hosur Road (Yellow Line) may be operational by December 2022 and Bommanahalli-RV Road will be ready only in 2023. Electronics City and Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara (Electronics City-II) station and if the proposal of ELCITA is accepted by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), other companies are likely to connect through Metro Neo.
Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions Pvt Ltd recently prepared a pre-feasibility study report for the adoption of a multimodal integrated transport system and light rail transit facility. A tender has been floated for making a promotional video for ‘Metro Neo’ in Electronic City to connect with financial investors, government agencies and other stakeholders in the area.

Metro Neo is expected to serve over 1.5 lakh employees, especially IT professionals, working in Electronics City.
